The session is geared towards small, local and diverse businesses who are interested in selling
their product or service to the City.

The session is up to 3 hours in length and the topics covered include the following:

  • Overview of City structure

  • Types of procurement methods

  • Sustainable Procurement

  • Ariba: What you need to know/tips

  • Business Friendly Edmonton Services

The session is hosted by a team of Procurement Professionals from the City’s Corporate
Procurement and Supply Services department.

There will be an open question period at the end to which attendees can ask procurement related
questions to any of the Procurement Professionals who are hosting the session.

In addition to the overview of the City’s procurement practices, the session will also include
information about the City’s Business Friendly Edmonton Team and how to access support.

The Business Friendly Edmonton team works directly with business owners one-on-one to assist
with the following:

  • How to apply for and obtain a business license;

  • Zoning and safety codes considerations for a specific business and location;

  • Timelines and fees associated with obtaining the necessary permits;

  • Location support;

  • Home-based business regulations;

  • Small business workshops discussing common issues or inquiries with regulatory
    information;

  • Assistance with applying to City-offered grants;

  • Support for innovative businesses to partner with the City;

  • And more.
